General information​

About this Manual​

This manual is written for professional system integrators and PC technicians. It provides information for the ARP-GUARD Hardware Appliance family. Installation and maintenance should be performed by experienced technicians only.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

The following information relates to the safety of installation and maintenance personnel. Read all instructions before attempting to unpack, install or operate this equipment, especially before connecting the power adapter. Please refer the Safety Instruction Guide when installing this equipment.

Setting up your ARP-GUARD Appliance​

This chapter describes the procedure used to install your ARP-GUARD-Appliance and perform the initial configuration.

Inspecting the Package​

The appliance package should contain the following items:

  • One ARP-GUARD Security Appliance
  • One switching power adapter
  • One serial cable (console)
  • SDR-Stick
  • One Quick Start Guide
caution

If an item is missing, please contact your dealer.

Important​

  • A crossover cable should be used when connecting the Appliance directly to another machine.
  • A standard Ethernet cable should be used when connecting the Appliance to a network hub, switch or modem.

Powering Up the Appliance​

  1. Connect and power on the Appliance. After a few seconds the Status LED starts to blink.
  2. Wait until the Status LED indicates constant GREEN: Booting procedure is finished

Powering Down the Appliance​

caution

You must shutdown the system before switching off the power to the Appliance! You can do this via the WebUI.

  1. At the beginning of the shutdown procedure the status LED will start to blink.
  2. The status LED will switch to RED at the end of the shutdown procedure.

Connect the Appliance to your network​

Default Configuration​

The Management-port is pre-configured to 192.168.2.1. You can change this IP address using the WebUI or on the console using the tool DomosNetConf.
